Independent retailers from all over Canada will be asked to participate in a survey, focusing on challenges they face and the trends that are driving the industry. This information will provide valuable data for the research as well as specific concerns faced by retailers throughout the country.

Our committee will call upon experts in retail who will provide statistics and information for the study, as well as insights into trends and best practices. We will be consulting university professors, financial experts and government representatives, among others.

Approximately two million Canadians work in the retail sector. Of the 152,000 retail establishments with employees, 145,000 of them have fewer than 50 employees, a standard definition of small business in Canada.
